Our practice has a long history of training doctors for General Practice. We are a training practice for Sligo and Galway GP training schemes and we usually have a registrar working here in the practice.
Doctors

Dr. Pat Durcan

Dr. Anne Jordan
Dr Jordan’s post graduate qualifications include a Masters in Science in Public Health, Diploma in child Health, Diploma in Paediatrics, Certificate in contraception. Advanced certificate in long acting contraception and membership of the Irish college of General Practitioners. Dr Jordan has a particular interest in Women’s health. She has been involved in training young doctors to be GP’s for the last 20 years with the Sligo GP training scheme.

Dr. Sinead Armstrong
Dr Sinead Armstrong graduated from UCG in 1994. She completed her GP training on the Western General Practice Training Scheme in Galway. She has extra post graduate qualifications in General Medicine, Children’s Health and Women’s health and family planning. She has a Certificate in advanced LARC and a Diploma in Sports and Exercise Medicine. In the past Dr Sinead was the team doctor to the Under 19 and Senior Women’s Irish Soccer Team.

Dr. Scott Walkin
Dr. Scott Walkin MB BCH BAO MRCPI MICGP MPH is a Ballina native who studied medicine in University College Dublin. He undertook specialist training in General Practice in Dublin.
Dr. Walkin has an interest in medical education and has worked as a lecturer in NUI Galway. He also tutored medical students in UCD and Trinity College Dublin. He is an assistant programme director of the Sligo Specialist Training Programme in General Practice., and he is a GP trainer on the Western GP Training Programme. Closer to home, he is a Continuing Medical Education tutor for Mayo GP’s.
He returned to his hometown to work in Moyview Family Practice in 2005.

Dr. Maria McDermot
Dr. Maria Mc Dermott studied Medicine in UCD and graduated with a Bachelor of Medical Science degree in 2004. She then completed post graduate training in the Sligo post-graduate general practice training scheme and graduated in 2009. She joined the team in Moyview family practice in 2009.
She also has a certificate in Medical Education and was appointed as lecturer in general practice in the department of general practice NUI Galway in 2012, she is involved in teaching undergraduate medical students. She is especially interested in the areas of women’s and children’s health in general practice. She has completed a diploma in Women’s Health.

Nursing Staff

Claire Crowley
Claire is a registered general nurse and joined the practice in 2020. Claire started her nursing educational journey in Canterbury Christ Church University Kent between 2011- 2014 and has done additional training since between 2017 – 2019 in North Wales Bangor University while working in the Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board. Claire is certified in cervical screening, medication management, Manchester triage training 2019, and has attended a vast range of tissue viability courses. She has an emergency nursing background both adult and paediatric with advanced certificates in paediatric life support and adult intermediate life-support. Her special interests include chronic disease management including cardiovascular disease and diabetes. Claire moved back from the United Kingdom in March 2020 to advance her career and education while working in a primary care nursing setting.

Aoife Munnelly
Aoife qualified as a general nurse in UHG in 2015 where she worked until 2016 before relocating to St George’s University in London. There she worked gaining experience in diabetes & endocrinology and also senior health medicine. She then began working as a Diabetes Specialist Nurse providing education and support to people with both type 1/type 2 diabetes. She continued to upskill doing multiple courses within St George’s Univeristy including Care of the acutely unwell adult and Diabetes Interprofessional Course. After 6 years in London Aoife returned to Ballina to further advance her career in a primary care setting. Aoife is certified in cervical screening, baby vaccines, phlebotomy, ECG’s, 24 hour AMBP monitors, wound care and dressings and pre employment checks . Aoife has a special interest in health education, diabetes and preventative care.
Practice Manager

Mary Dunne
Mary has been with the practice for the last twenty years and is the Practice Manager. She is responsible for the efficient, effective and safe management of the Practice, and ensure the well-being of patients, doctors and staff, and the successful smooth running of the Practice. She is here to assist you with any queries or concerns you might have.
